What is a twin paradox?

[Edit]
An effect predicted by the general http://www.answers.com/topic/theory of http://www.answers.com/topic/relativity: if one of a pair of twins remains on http://www.answers.com/topic/earth, and the other travels in a rocket at a speed near the http://www.answers.com/topic/speed-of-light, the traveling twin will be younger than the earthbound twin upon returning to Earth. This effect has been verified experimentally by measurements with http://www.answers.com/topic/atomic-clock.

The paradox itself is not related to the fact that twins are of different age when they are reunited. The problem is that it seems the traveling tween could claim that he is staying put and the tween on the earth moved away and came back (together with earth) and therefore he should be younger.

One resolution: While a traveling tween has the right to make this claim there still is no symmetry since the traveling tween gets accelerated when he is turning around and the tween on earth undergoes no such change of speed.
