ok aerate is to (add air) normally to a liquid example (watter) liquids can hold a sett amount of gasses from air example (oxygen) in watter this is what fish breathe aeration is achieved by

a] agitating the water (waves or by hand)
b] by passing air through the watter (bubbles from a hose)
c] by passing water over air (waterfall)
