Best Answer

It is the action of friction that slows something moving through air. The larger the object, the more the air resistance acting on the object.

Air Resistance is a force. It is a force which act in the opposite direction that you are travelling (except in space, where air resistance is non-existent). It is caused by molecules of air colliding with an object, causing it to slow down and eventually stop. Air Resistance can also be known as drag.

Maybe the images in the related links section will help you get an understanding of Air resistance.

As you can see from the picture, the car's thrust is greater than its drag, so it goes faster. If the positions were reversed, the object would slow down.

Air resistance is a collection of particles in the air such as oxygen, nitrogen, and even dead skin cells. Air resistance can also be seen as a type of friction in the air. Just as a ball can be rolled and slowed down by a direct frictional force with the ground, when you throw a ball, the air particles act in the opposite direction of the ball.

Are all resistances in series connections the same?

No, all resistances in series connections are not the same. Different value resistances can be series together. The results of the resistances in series are always the same, they are additive.
