An alveous is an air sack ath the the end of each stem thing in the lung. They are surrounded by cappilaries. The air is stored in the alveoli and an diffusion occurs of the oxgen moving through the thin wall of the alveolus into the blood and the carbon dioxide moving into the alveolus and then the carbon dioxide is brethed out

The alveoli are the final branchings of the respiratory tree and act as the primary gas exchange units of the lung. The gas-blood barrier between the alveolar space and the pulmonary capillaries is extremely thin, allowing for rapid gas exchange. To reach the blood, oxygen must diffuse through the alveolar epithelium, a thin interstitial space, and the capillary endothelium; CO2 follows the reverse course to reach the alveoli.

How do the respiratory system and circulatory system work together?

The circulatory system transports oxygen through the body and the respiratory system supplies that oxygen.
