The short answer is that ambiguity is anything that can be interpreted in more than one way or the interpretation of which is uncertain. Ambiguity according to Wilkinson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Wilkinson_%28ambiguity_expert%29) includes risk, uncertainty, vagueness and chaos.
