The most interesting* fact about AIDS in Africa is that there are not as many cases as diagnosed. How could this be? Well, there are some areas in Africa where they do not have the necessary equipment to do basic tests, i.e. X-ray machines, centrifuges for blood tests, etc. So, if you show up with a fever and here's a paraphrasing idea of what happens (patient) doctor I don't feel well. I have had this fever for a week now and I'm not getting better. (doctor) Fever? that means infection. Take these pills and you should get better in no time. (patient leave). (nurse) Doctor, what type of infection was it? (doctor) Oh, it was a urinary tract infection. With some antibiotics he'll get better real soon. Three days later the guy show up again, and the fever is relentless, hasn't gone away. Well, this cat and mouse game goes on for some weeks until, TADA!!! the doctor now "knows" what the guy has is AIDS in a terminal phase, so he doesn't have that much time. Indeed, the guy passes away two weeks later. Later on, for I don't know what means, we find out that the guy had was malaria. *Although these findings are not mine, they were result of a Netherlands University, the "most interesting" opinion is mine only.
