well invocation means: the act of invoking or calling upon a deity, spirit, etc., for aid, protection, inspiration, or the like; supplication
i know in my congregation before we start our worship we pray to god and we thank him for this time we were able to gather today again and ask that he please be with us and bless us w/ his holy spirt so that we can understand the things we will be learning from The Bible...ect.
and then at the end of the meeting we close w/ prayer
so its basically asking god to be with u as u worship him
hope this helps :)
