ANSWER:

Two types of plants (let's say a daisy and a sunflower) are repeatedly attacked and destroyed by ants. But, with each generation, they pass down a trait to help them. So, over a long period of time, the sunflower develops a toxin on its leaves that kill the ants if they touch it. But the daisy doesn't make anything. So, since the sunflower have developed a means of protection due to its ability to adapt, it survived.

Also known as natural selection, survival of the fittest refers to the process where some organisms in a population do not reproduce (usually die) because they cannot effectively accommodate to environmental conditions, while others may potentially survive and reproduce, making the successor generation mainly with genes of the better accommodated individuals. These successful individuals are thus "naturally selected" and "the fittest."

survival of the fittest means means that the weak or ill in a group would be left to die or killed so that the rest can survive because the ill or weak would endanger the rest of the group. They would be slower so predator's would target them. Putting the rest of the group in danger.

Fit means reproductively fit. That is one organism leaves more progeny on to the further generations than another organism.

That is why " survival of the fittest " ( not Darwin's term, but Herbert Spenser's term ) is rather inaccurate.
