Very ambiguous perhaps you could rephrase.... Photography is an art form... I don't know what else to say without the question being made more specific. _______________ Music can be broken down into several categories, although there will be vigorous debate on whether or not some musics are 'art'. Most people would agree that the 'muzak' that you hear in elevators and other public places is more a part of the planning of public architecture and usually not piped-in as art. In the same way, we might think of journalistic photography as being a functional branch of photography. The idea is to relate events by depicting them in a compelling way. Yes, there are some famous journalistic photographs that reach the level of art. On the other hand, Adams, Henry Peach Robinson, Man Ray, Stieglitz, and many others, produced exquisite photographic works that were clearly NOT meant simply to capture a 'true-to-life' rendition of a scene, or even give the scene a certain 'spin', but to offer a vision of form, texture and color that goes far beyond a blind reproduction of the physical world.
