What is backdoor.generic?

[Edit]

Answer

During a cursory google search, it would seem to be malware. Various virus and trojan scanners seem to be able to detect it, and might be able to properly remove it so that it doesn't reinstall itself.

Backdoors in general, are methods to get priviledged access on a system, by circumventing the systems normal security precautions. They can be installed by a legitimate user on a system, as a matter of convenience, but it's generally a bad idea, because it sidesteps the security features already existing in the system. What makes it convenient for some, makes it a security risk for the system.
