I think the best condolence message you can give is "You are in our thoughts and prayers." If that is too generic write something from your heart. Lots of people use "I'm sorry for your loss" but how can you be sorry if you didn't cause the loss? I've spoken to many people and they don't understand how people can say I'm sorry for your loss. Something from the heart is always appreciated.
