Bulul is a good natured spirit venerated by the Ifugao of northern Luzon in the Philippines. A pair of anthropomorphic hardwood figures are carved in the shape of bulul (binulul) and during rituals these are charged by the presence of the bulul spirit, the figures thereby referred to as "nabulul". The purpose of the bulul ritual is sometimes initially for healing of bone or nerve disorders (for example in Kiangan), but more often it is connected with the rice harvest. Bulul rituals fell out of use in the 1960s.
