It is often used as a lubricant (I believe!) A COLOURLESS OLEAGINOUS LIQUID,STABLE,PRACTICALLY ODOURLESS ESTER. MADE BY REACTION WITH STEARIC ACID WITH N- BUTANOL. MP : 20-23oC, DENSITY 0.855 -0.860 AT 20/20oC, SOLUBLE IN ALCOHOL & ETHER, INSOLUBLE IN WATER.
