The term "cinematography" is a somewhat arcane word for filmmaking or motion pictures, now usually shortened to simply "film." The word "cinema" may mean either the motion picture itself or the movie house used to display it. The word origin is from two Greek words: kinesis (movement) and grapho (to record).
