Dowry Prohibiton Act,1961 is a made by Indian government to stop the evil practice of taking or giving dowry. According to this act taking or giving dowry is a offence which is punishable.Anyone found guilty will be fined and imprisoned for a period of "not less than 5 years"
P.S.- The conviction rate is only 2%. That means 98% of the cases are false and fabricated.
