Dowry Prohibiton Act,1961 is a made by Indian government to stop the evil practice of taking or giving dowry. According to this act taking or giving dowry is a offence which is punishable.Anyone found guilty will be fined and imprisoned for a period of "not less than 5 years"

P.S.- The conviction rate is only 2%. That means 98% of the cases are false and fabricated. By the process of the law police, lawyers and judges cruelly and illegally rob the RESPECT of 98% of the husbands and their relatives in the society in front of their wives by misusing Dowry Act which attracts immediate arrest and jail custody.
