Fast, compared to what? Most any modern motorcycle is fast enough to get you into trouble if you don't pay attention. If you want all out fast-speed and don't care about ergonomics and comfort buy a Suzuki Hyabusa or a Kawasaki zx-14 Ninja. These factory hot-rods are the ultimate affordable and attainable bikes available to the public with a dealer located somewhere nearby most people.
Any of the 600 sport bikes from today's manufacturers should be suitable and more attainable however, and are plenty fast. On a curvy/twisty race track or back-road with capable rider, these can embarass a much larger bike of the 1 litre(1000 cc) variety.
V65 Honda. 140 mph out of the showroom in 1983-86. 118 Hp. 1st V4 Cyl engine. Faster than almost any bike from the factory at the time and even today. Harleys are about 68hp. JG
