In military or law-enforcement actions, friendly fire is "fire" (gunshots, grenades, bombs, etc.) delivered by others on your own side of the conflict. Thus a friendly-fire accident or incident is one in which an officer or fighter or asset is mistakenly injured or damaged by a weapon fired from another member of one's own force.
