At the Jameson Whiskey Distillery in Dublin, Ireland, the mixes they preferred and offer are Ginger Ale, Cranberry Juice, Coke, or on the rocks (ice). Each serving can have a slice of lime in it to give it a little extra taste or style. A drink known as Red Lemonade, which is only available in Ireland, is another favoured mix.

Others would say that you do not mix Jameson with anything and that it should be enjoyed on the rocks or straight up.

ice, water

Answer:

Only a neophyte drinker would ever consider adding a "mix" to Scotch. A good Scotch is not mixed with anything (except if it is cask strength and then only with the purest of spring water to get it down to 40 proof and allow the aroma to develop.) Even ice is pretty much a no no as the melting ice:

  • chills the Scotch and reduces the flavour
  • progressively dilutes the Scotch changing the flavor and aroma with time.

The most delicious whiskey cocktail was as follows:

Squirt some Hershey's syrup in your mouth (dont swallow) and then throw back a shot of whiskey. Chase it with some Dr. Pepper.

You can drink it neat (as-is without anything added), with cola (Coca-Cola is the norm but you can use Pepsi if you wish) or ginger ale.
