Hatchet is About a Boy named Brian who is lost in the wilderness and has to survive by himself.
Hatchet is about a young boy named Brian that gets in a plane crash, trying to visit is father in Canada, and ends up lost and alone in the Canadian Wilderness. his mom and dad are split up because on one secret that his mother is holding. and she doesn't know that Brian knows the secret. So his mother demanded a divorce, but the father had know clue why. The secret was that his mother had been cheating on her husband, every Thursday, she would sneak away to see him and make out with him. The pilot that was driving the plane had a heart attack, that is how they crashed. So Brian learns how to survive in the woods alone. He runs into many challenges, like finding food and shelter, and making a fire. I haven't finished the end but I'm almost there.
In the Epilogue, Brian never got a chance to tell his father why his mother wanted a divorce, or the secret, or all the other things that he knew, that his father never knew. To me it was really sad that Gary Paulsen ( the writer ) ended it like that. But it also continues, with the book, The River.
