The reason I use hydrocone 10/350 is due to lymphicitic colits (cronic) My only next option will be a cholostomy surgery, removing all of my colon and use a cholostomy bag for the rest of my life. I am 74 years old and feel that if the hydrocone works for me now I would prefer to avoid the surgery. I have spent thousands of dollars in RX meds that do not work

∙ 9y agoSome of the side effects of this medication are nausea, vomiting, constipation, and drowsiness. Other side effects include lightheadedness, fuzzy thinking, anxiety, and narrowing of the pupils.

∙ 14y agoHydrocodone is the main ingredient in Loritab. It can come in liquid, or powder form. It is also put in some Prescribed mouth-wash, and Cough Medicine. For tooth-aches, chest hurting from coughing etc. I have drunk it before (It was in cough medicine I had) It is the best high I have ever gotten. I took about 3 mouth-fulls. I know you're not asking about how to get high off of it, etc. But I figured I would throw in that tid-bit of information.

∙ 11y agoHydrocodone 10/325 refers to a combination pill: one that contains 10mg of hydrocodone and 325mg of acetaminophen (often abbreviated APAP).
Norco-10 is a common version of this common combination drug.
Lortab-10, on the other hand, also has 10mg of hydrocodone, but combines it with 500mg of acetaminophen.
This distinction has become more clinically relevant as the maximum non-toxic dose of acetaminophen has been reduced from 4000mg to less than 3000mg. This has occurred as evidence has mounted that amounts of acetaminophen greater than 3000mg per day may be toxic to the human liver.
Since the hydrocodone component of this combo medication should be taken every 4-6 hours to maintain the pain-killing quality, having more than 325mg of acetaminophen has become more problematic.
It has been suggested that "Lortab-10" may be discontinued, so that persons taking maximal appropriate doses of hydrocodone are not exposed to toxic levels of acetaminophen.

Not necessarily. Vicodin is a combination of hydocodone and acetaminophen/paracetamol(APAP). Vicodin is available in: 5mg hydrocodone / 500mg APAP 7.5mg hydrocodone / 750mg APAP 10mg hydrocodone / 660mg APAP Therefore, if you take one 10mg pill containing 660mg APAP instead of taking two 5mg pills each containing 500mg APAP for a combined total of 1000mg APAP, you will, in essence, be receiving less of a drug that reduces inflamation and assists in relieving pain. In addition, ingesting too much APAP will cause great stress to your liver, so when managing severe pain you may want to monitor that. Moreover, taking one 5mg pill at one time then another 5mg pill at a later time will NOT heed the same results as taking two 5mg pills at the same time. (half lives, metabolic absorbtion, etc.)
