There is not a term for the addiction, but there is a recognized psychological disorder that affects some surgery addicts. It is called "body dysmorphic disorder" (BDD), and sufferers have a distorted image of their own appearance. This is sometimes manifested as disapproval after surgery is performed, leading to another surgery to correct the apparent flaws. Because of the high costs of plastic surgery, this disorder is usually apparent only in the very wealthy.

∙ 8y agoThere is no specific word for when a person is having surgery that they don't need or lying simply to get a surgical procedure. There is, however, several diagnoses such as "factitious disorder/imposed on self" that fit this issue. There is also Munchausen Syndrome, which is a psychiatric disorder (also classified as "factitious") in which patients seek out hospitals, doctors, procedures and feign illness including having surgical procedures they don't need based on symptoms they are not having.
