What does OBE DL stand for?

OBE is officer of the Order of the British Empire. I did not know what DL was but my second cousin is OBE DL so I asked him. Here is what he said: "It stands for Deputy Lieutenant and each county has a Lord Lieutenant who has a raft of Deputys. The Lieutenancy goes back down the centuries as part of the way the country was run before democracy and carries on to this day as a continuation of some aspects of civic tradition which elected politicians would never want to do!"

Why did Iago want Roderigo to anger Cassio?

Iago's plan is to make Cassio drunk and get him into a brawl that will ruin Cassio's reputation and cause him to lose his position. He urges Roderigo to provoke Cassio "to put our Cassio in some action/ that may offend the isle." As usual,Roderigo is duped by Iago's manipulative words and agrees to do this, even though all he ends up with is a sound beating from Cassio. Iago, however, succeeds in getting Cassio dismissed from his lieutenancy to Othello, which plays in toIago's master plan to ruin Othello.

Why cockpit of an airplane is called cockpit?

In the early 18th century the term was in nautical use. The term cockpit denoted an area in the aft lower deck of a man-of-war where the wounded were taken, later coming to mean the pit or well in a sailing ship from which it was steered. It became a term meaning the place housing the controls of other vehicles including aeroplanes. _______________________________________________________________________ The term 'cockpit' was used in the nautical sense (1706) for the midshipmen's compartment below decks, inferring all midshipmen were in intense competition for (even temporary) promotion to acting lieutenancy. This space was also used as a surgery for the injured, since all midshipmen would far rather be injured (again) than be carried below in any action; transferred to airplanes (1914) and to cars (1930s).

Write a mini essay No character in Othello is flawless Discuss some of these flaws and how Iago uses to his advantage?

Well...OK... No character in Othello is perfect- this is true. There are two main instance where weaknesses come into play and are exploited by Iago. Michael Cassio, the mathematician who Iago is gunning to displace the whole time, has a known weakness for alcohol. Othello explicitly instructs him not to drink on his shift, but he does regardless. Iago then exploits this weakness, and soon Cassio threatens violence, and ends up stabbing Montano. Iago, when asked later, pretends he had nothing to do with it. This is ultimately what gets Cassio booted from the lieutenancy. The prime example of Iago's exploitation is, of course, Othello. Othello is willing to jump to conclusions about Desdemona and her scandalous (and ostensibly numerous) love affairs with Cassio and other men. All Iago has to do is plant these ideas in Othello's mind, and Othello goes to them himself. Othello is so caught up in rage that he cannot even see that they have only been in Cyprus a few days. These wild affairs behind his back are not even feasible.

Did women in the War suffer at any time?

OKay. There were 38 known ( one no trace case similar to Earhart but on US Army time and out of California, by the way) Fatalities among the WASPS the Women"s Army-AF service pilots. Obviously there were transportation accidents- auto- bus, ship, not necessarily enemy action that affected Female members of the Armed forces such as Nurses, Wacs, Waves. War is an inherently hazardous business. Most female Officers ( as they were in most cases at least of Lieutenancy grade) in all branches of the service, while officers of the Armed forces- were not Armed. Some Waves had some basic instruction in operating the .45 Pistol for purely defensive use- but did not carry them on watch, as it were. There are and were plenty of Animals who would take unfair advantage of Unarmed Govt. Officers as ( easy targets_ and atrocities as well as (accidents) were not unknown. all female members of the services ( Army Af *(then as the song still proclaims- part of the Army, Navy, Marines, CG etc were volunteers, not draftees/ Most female officers were not armed. there was no ( Annie Oakley brigades- so to speak) as stated some two legged animals abused this.

What is Wonder Woman's whole name?

Diana Prince. She is a Lieutenant in Army Intelligence, the TV version was a Wave G-2 officer also lieutenancy rank. of course in real life she is Princess Diana - of the Amazons of Themyscira Island. She acts very highbrow and makes intelligent comments one would expect of a G-2 type- for example in one episode about an outsized firecracker she remarked ( Must be used for experimental purposes!) that:s talking like a G-2 officer, not a commoner. Her superior, Major (later Colonel) Steve Trevor seems to be frequently alternated from intellogence to regular flying USAF duties. Wonder Woman often has to bail Steve out (pun intended) when his ejection seat malfunctions, etc.. By the way the Navy intelligence service is called ONI (Office of Naval intelligence) and not G-2. G-2 is restricted to Army and Air forces, the (Ground grabbers and airmen).
