Matter is made of atoms. An atom is composed of protons, neutrons and electrons.

Different types of matter have atoms with a different number of protons.

e.g. Hydrogen gas is 'matter', it has one(1) proton. however, Carbon (solid) is also 'matter', it has six(6) protons.

Water is also 'matter' it is a liquid compound and is composed of three atoms. Two atoms are hydrogen and one atom of oxygen. Each atom has hydrogen 1 proton and oxygen 8 protons. The atoms of water are combined through electron bonding.

The composition of an atom is protons and neutrons are found in the nucleus. The electrons are found in 'energy clouds' outside the nucleus.

The protons are deemed to have a mass of '1' and are positively(+) charged, neutrons are deemed to have a mass of '1' and have no (0) charge, electrons are deemed to have a mass of '1/1820' and have a negative(-) charge. The number of protons and electrons in an atom must be equal other wise the atom would have a charge, when it is known as an 'ion'. Physical Research into the nature of protons and neutrons has revealed even smaller particles ; quarks, mesons etc.,

Everything around us , including ourselves, is matter, and is composed of atoms, combined together to form 'complex' compounds.

Hope that helps!!!!

Matter is made of tiny little particles. The particles that make up matter are called atoms. You cannot see atoms because they are so small. Lots of atoms join together to make up matter that you can see.

Matter is constructed from atoms. Atoms are made of protons, neutrons and electrons.

As far as what makes up protons, neutrons and electrons, there is only the theory that they are all made of something called a quark.

All matter is made from fundamental building blocks. Matter is build firstly from atoms, and atoms of the same atomic number make up elements as set out in the Periodic Table of elements. All matter we encounter in daily life is made of atoms.

.

Each atom comprises up to 3 smaller particles, electrons, protons and neutrons. According to the Standard Model, the currently accepted model of particle physics, electrons are thought to be fundamental particles (they are not made from anything else), however neutrons and protons comprise variations a smaller particle, called a quark. Electrons and quarks are all examples of fermions, a class of particles in which only only particle can occupy the same quantum state at one time.

.

There are also boson particles, in which several particles can occupy the same quantum state at the same time. Bosons include photons (responsible for electromagnetic force and light), W bosons and Z bosons (weak interaction), and gluons (strong interactive force). The Standard Model also predicts the existence of the higgs boson and the graviton, however these particles' existence have not been experimentally confirmed.

.

Although matter is not made of bosons per se, bosons are part of matter, because they are responsible for the forces that keep matter together at the macro level, molecular level, atomic level, and subatomic level.

How is chemistry related to other field of science?

Chemistry is connected to other fields of science through the matter of the study, in the sense that it includes atoms and matter, which make up everything. Chemistry can be looked upon as a basis for all studies of Science, for which it examines the basis of what everything is made up of.

Is there a limit to how far matter can be subdivided?

Yes. Matter is all made up of atoms: protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons are made up of quarks, and electrons are made up of leptons. As far as we know so far, quarks and leptons are as far subdivided as it gets, but who knows what future science enquiries will bring.
