It's the lament of a child born whose father "stole" her mother... thus, why the child is a "glass child" and also "Hannah's regrets"--presumably Hannah is the name of the mother.
I don't know if Meg and Dia wrote this or how true it is, I just interpreted the lyrics.

Meg and Dia have stated in interviews that many of their songs are influenced by literature, and that it has had a big influence on their lives. Many of their songs are based on books: "Monster" was based on the Cathy Ames character in East of Eden by John Steinbeck; "Indiana" was based on Indiana by George Sand; and "Rebecca" was based on Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. "Tell Mary" was based on Mary by Vladimir Nabokov."Courage Robert" was influenced by and written about Robert Schumann, a famous pianist and composer.

The song "Monster" by Meg and Dia is About a Boy who was never loved as a child, Thus not knowing what love felt like, When he grew up he later found a girl that he was violent toward, As he thought this was love, Although the girl was being abused by hum, She still fell in love with him. He then began to realize that he was only hurting her, And committed suicide by filling a bath with kerosene and lighting it on fire (Bathtub full of glow flies, Bathe in kerosene) Hannah was the name of the girl he was abusing, And Hannah's regret is the daughter they had together. The story is not true, It was based on a book.
the meaning of the song monster by Meg and Dia is about a boy who was never loved as a child so he never felt anything.as a result of this to feel something he became violent.proceeding to say he feels something when he touches others.Meg and Dia say that if you have no love in your life you become a 'monster'(monster, how shoul i feel).now he's wondering how he should feel,so he steals this girls virginity (violent wrists and then her ankels silent pain)thinking that this was what love was until he relized he was hurting her by doing so.and so everyone is talking about how she had this kid named Hannah and the boy hears about it and remembered what he had done,i am Hannah's regrets)and so he kills himself by bathing in a tub of oil and lighting it on fire(there's a bathtub full of glow flies, bathe in kerosene, their words tattoed in his veins.) and there you go.hope this helped you understand!!^^

As far as I can tell, Meg and Dia are indie-pop.
Meg & Dia have younger sisters.I think four to be exact.
they are sisters. I went to school with Dia ( I'm 21) and my sister is Meg's age (24) Very sweet girls :)
The band Meg & Dia originally formed as a two piece in 2004. The two sisters, Meg and Dia Frampton then joined with three new band members - Eddie Friends, Jon Cash and Alex Kruse - to form Cowards Courage, but reformed under the original name - Meg and Dia.
[From the Meg & Dia page on Wikipedia] :"The Yellow Butterfly ProjectIn July 2005, Dia's friend Ian Shane Tyler (of Las Vegas, NV) decided to spend time with her one last time just before she left Las Vegas. Dia went to Ian's house and started playing a song she had been working on (on piano). Ian thought it would be a cool song to record. It was titled "Yellow Butterfly". After recording the song, Dia and Ian dubbed their project "The Yellow Butterfly Project", alternatively known as Dia & Ian. To date, the side project has only produced the one song.[28] Dia sometimes starts shows with a solo keyboard rendition of "Yellow Butterfly"."
