What is meant by Moore's law?

Answer:
Gordon Moore, one of the founders of Intel Corporation, discovered that the density of data , that is, the number of transistors, on an integrated circuit had doubled every year since the first one was made. He said that this increase would continue for quite some time into the future. The formula held true for many years. However, it seems that the time frame now has been adjusted, and is generally accepted, to be about 18 months, rather than one year for doubling of data density.
