What is meant by the printmaking term the edition of prints?

[Edit]

Editions additions

It's like a time-line. At this particular time, this number of prints were issed on this date, of this year, etc. The prints can be limited, so that no others will be available until the reprint is scheduled by the artist or their executors. Thus !st editions, 2nd editions, etc.
