The United Kingdom uses Pound Sterling - almost always just called the Pound.

1 Pound = 100 pence

As opposed to the previous answer, while Ireland does use the Euro, that is the Republic of Ireland, a completely different country.

Throughout the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Pound is the currency.

The currency in Britain is the pound. 100 pence (or pennies) equal 1 pound. Although Britain is a member of the European Union, it has so far opted out of adopting the Euro as its currency, which is widely used on mainland Europe.
