Table Salt (NaCl) will dissolve in water, but does not readily dissolve in many oils.

Gold is relatively inert, but will dissolve in a mixture of Nitric Acid and Hydrochloric Acid.

Glass is relatively inert, but can be etched by hydrofluoric acid

Teflon is a type of plastic that is inert under many conditions.

A pure diamond is essentially a single molecule, and is relatively inert, but would potentially react in some situations.

Well, I'll say this incase this is a typo, Solutes are dissolved, which are charged, polar molecules, and the ones that do NOT dissolve are non-polar and non-charged substances.
