If you take the current price of gold ($1398/oz at the time of this writing), multiply by 10 and divide by 24, you will get the value of 1oz of 10k gold ($582.50).
The same formula is used for 12k (12/24), 14k (14/24), 18k (18/24).
You can be sure that gold dealers will offer you significantly less than the spot price, since they have to allow for the cost of refining and their own profit margin.
