Generally speaking it's a point at which you reach your highest point/peak and level off, no longer gaining.

In much the same way a plateau sits highest on cliff, and flattens off and no longer continues the rise of the cliff.

How come you can lose weight up to about 20 pounds before your body puts on the breaks and starts gaining weight again when you eat only 1200 calories a day and do a half hour of cardio exercising?

I believe it is due to your body's fitness improving vastly, muscles working more efficiently and metabolism slowing down. Your body wants to use the least amount of energy possible, whether in danger of starvation or not. This effect is similar to plateauing in resistance / weight training. You need to do more cardio or push your body harder to continue getting results.

I am currently trying to lose weight while doing weightlifting and cardio. I am taking creatine and heard that might hinder weight loss, is this true?

not its not true

Why do some spouse become more emotional connected to their affair partner than their wife of many years?

its natural, when you fall for another person in the first place, it means that your passion for your first partner is plateauing, and you need to reboot your emotions, although it sounds cliche but its normal since we were never made to be monogamous, we created these social systems ourselves (no this is not bad advice) its a fact. And since with the spouse a lot is at stake one resorts to let his or her like simmer inside their chests, i speak this from experience. Therefore its natural to be more attached to their affair partner since that one is new, in the same way when we buy a new car we like it better than the old one even though the old one may be in a good shape but since we know all about it & nothing more remains to know we fancy the new one more!!!

What do you mean by Memory when referring to certain rechargeable batteries?

On certain batteries, ff you don't use your battery until your device shuts off, and recharge it before that point often enough, the battery becomes weaker for it. Think of it in terms of exercise. You get muscules by pushing yourself beyond your normal limits. But the thing is, if you hit a certain level of exercise, and then stay at that level of exercise, your body gets use to it (they call it plateauing) and even though you are exercising, you don't continue to develop muscles any more. Well, in batteries, it is a chemical process that creates ionized electrons that flow from one end of the battery, through your circuit, and back to the other end of the battery. If you don't take full advantage of the full voltage necessary to run your device (or most power hungry device you use if you are using multiple devices), the chemicals in the battery start to weaken. As a result, if a battery would normally last 5 hours, you might find that after some usage and premature charging, it only lasts 4 hours. If left to go too long, this basically means the battery is ruined. But in some cases, you can actually find a power hungry device, keep using it until device shut down and recharging it fully several times in a row, and get some or all of your extra hour back. I call this exercising the battery.

Is it possible to loose 20 pounds in one month?

If an individual has a significant amount of weight to lose, it is possible that they could lose 20 pounds in one month. The rule of thumb for weight loss is that one should not lose more than 2 pounds per week, as this will help to keep the weight off. Rapid weight loss at the beginning of a diet/ exercise plan usually leads to the individual plateauing, and may eventually cause weight gain.

What is a 1982 one troy ounce silver eagle of 999 fine silver or argent fin 999 from monex international ltd worth?

03/02/2011: These days, with silver cresting $34/troy ounce, most people are listing their silver rounds right around $38 for .999 silver rounds that are pretty much only worth the weight of the silver (damaged/marred/worn). Most Troy ounce silver rounds are not dated... The fact that these are pretty much bumps them up to the $40+ mark (some still include free shipping). The fact that these were issued by Monex International, and are considered Silver Eagles puts them right around the $45 mark - possibly with free shipping - in very good to uncirculated condition. If you happen to have one sealed as mint quality would probably bring in $50 or more. Always remember that if you're selling them through an online site like Ebay you need to factor the commission into your price (12% + list through Ebay). Of course this has been mainly opinion, but I have 3 of these coins and plan to list 2 of them for $40 + shipping/handling each as long as the spot price doesn't go higher than $36/Troy ounce. In that event, I see silver plateauing at $40-45/ounce this year, so I would then list them for $50ish apiece. I think the thing to keep in mind is that as prices go up, more and more silver rounds will be lost to the melters, since no laws protect against destroying silver eagles like they do U.S. Currency (pre 1964 silver coins) so the more that are lost from any particular minting will only serve to increase the value of said surviving rounds. Hope the info helped and is still relevant when you read this, lol.

How do you lose fat in your lower abs?

First and foremost you can not just target where you want to lose fat, you can not spot train where you want to lose fat. You can spot train where to add muscle. Fat is lost from having a healthy diet. You could do every leg lift, crunch, situp, purchase every ab machine ever invented and at the end of the day you will have rock hard abs covered by a nasty layer of fat. Yes the truth hurts I know and that was probably not an answer you wanted to hear but it is the truth. I have been preaching this for many years in seminars nationwide to obese children as well as adults and to fitness professionals as well. If you want to get in shape and lose that lower gut this is what you are going to need to do. If you want to lose weight the wrong answer is dieting, the correct answer is making the choice to get on a life journey of being healthy, eating healthy and exercising. There are three major factors that go into this - nutrition, cardio and strength training. Let me start with nutrition - contrary to prior belief starvation diets do not work just plain and simple. What however does work is eating 6-8 meals spread out throughout a day. If you drink soda - kick the habit, unwanted calories and sugar - you will lose weight quick if you dump the soda habit. make sure you are eating good meals no fried foods or fast food. Cardio - You are going to want to incorporate cardio into your schedule. Make sure when training you are staying in an aerobic state not an anaerobic state when doing cardio. Strength Training - believe it or not lifting weight actually makes you lose weight because it increases your metabolism. For every pound of muscle you add your body will burn 50 calories a day at rest. By rest I mean driving in your car, watching television, etc. Now I know 50 calories a day is not much in the grand scheme of things but before you stop reading consider this - 50 calories a day 7 days in a week that is 350 calories still not too much right? If we change the numbers and add 10 pounds of lean muscle you burn 500 calories a day 3500 calories a week that is awesome because it is equal to 1 pound of fat. Now it is not going to happen overnight just as I am more than confident that the 15 pounds you are trying to lose did not happen overnight. It does take time, dedication, motivation and making sure you do not plateau. You can help to avoid plateauing by changing up your exercises every few weeks to keep it fresh and also so you do not get bored.

What is meant by Over population has strained the infrastructure?

Overpopulation is a condition where an organism's numbers exceed the carrying capacity of its habitat. The term often refers to the relationship between the human population and its environment, the Earth.[1] Steve Jones, head of the biology department at University College London, has said, "Humans are 10,000 times more common than we should be, according to the rules of the animal kingdom, and we have agriculture to thank for that. Without farming, the world population would probably have reached half a million by now."[2] The world's population has significantly increased in the last 50 years, mainly due to medical advancements and substantial increases in agricultural productivity. The recent rapid increase in human population over the past two centuries has raised concerns that humans are beginning to overpopulate the Earth, and that the planet may not be able to sustain present or larger numbers of inhabitants. The population has been growing continuously since the end of the Black Death, around the year 1400;[3] at the beginning of the 19th century, it had reached roughly 1,000,000,000 (1 billion). Increases in life expectancy and resource availability during the industrial and green revolutions led to rapid population growth on a worldwide level. By 1960, the world population had reached 3 billion; it doubled to 6 billion over the next four decades. As of 2009, the estimated annual growth rate was 1.10%, down from a peak of 2.2% in 1963, and the world population stood at roughly 6.7 billion. Current projections show a steady decline in the population growth rate, with the population expected to reach between 8 and 10.5 billion between the year 2040[4][5] and 2050.[6]The scientific consensus is that the current population expansion and accompanying increase in usage of resources is linked to threats to the ecosystem. The InterAcademy Panel Statement on Population Growth, which was ratified by 58 member national academies in 1994, called the growth in human numbers "unprecedented", and stated that many environmental problems, such as rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, global warming, and pollution, were aggravated by the population expansion.[7] At the time, the world population stood at 5.5 billion, and optimistic scenarios predicted a peak of 7.8 billion by 2050, a number that current estimates show will be reached around 2022.DefinitionOverpopulation does not depend only on the size or density of the population, but on the ratio of population to available sustainable resources. It also depends on the way resources are used and distributed throughout the population. Overpopulation can result from an increase in births, a decline in mortality rates due to medical advances, from an increase in immigration, or from an unsustainable biome and depletion of resources. It is possible for very sparsely populated areas to be overpopulated, as the area in question may have a meager or non-existent capability to sustain human life (e.g. a desert). The resources to be considered when evaluating whether an ecological niche is overpopulated include clean water, clean air, food, shelter, warmth, and other resources necessary to sustain life. If the quality of human life is addressed, there may be additional resources considered, such as medical care, education, proper sewage treatment and waste disposal. Overpopulation places competitive stress on the basic life sustaining resources,[9] leading to a diminished quality of life.[10]History of concernConcern about overpopulation is relatively recent in origin. Throughout history, populations have grown slowly despite high birth rates, due to the population-reducing effects of war, plagues and high infant mortality. During the 750 years before the Industrial Revolution, the world's population hardly increased, remaining under 250 million.[11] By the beginning of the 19th century, the world population had grown to a billion individuals, and intellectuals such as Thomas Malthus and physiocratic economists predicted that mankind would outgrow its available resources, since a finite amount of land was incapable of supporting an endlessly increasing population. Mercantillists argued that a large population was a form of wealth, which made it possible to create bigger markets and armies.History of population growthThe human population has gone through a number of periods of growth since the dawn of civilization in the Holocene period, around 10,000 BC. The beginning of civilization coincides with the final receding of glacial ice following the end of the last glacial period. It is estimated that about 1,000,000 people, subsisting on hunting and foraging, inhabited the Earth in the period before the neolithic revolution, when human activity shifted away from hunter-gathering and towards very primitive farming. Around 8000 BCE, at the dawn of agriculture, the population of the world was approximately 5 million.[12] The next several millennia saw minimal changes in the population, with a steady growth beginning in 1000 BCE, plateauing (or alternatively, peaking) in 1 BCE, at between 200 and 300 million people. The Plague of Justinian caused Europe's population to drop by around 50% between 541 and the 8th century.[13] Steady growth resumed in 800 CE.[14] This growth was disrupted by frequent plagues; most notably, the Black Death during the 14th century. the effects of the Black Death are thought to have reduced the world's population, then at an estimated 450 million, to between 350 and 375 million by 1400.[15] The population of Europe stood at over 70 million in 1340;[16] these levels did not return until 200 years later.[17]On the other side of the globe, China's population at the founding of the Ming dynasty in 1368 stood close to 60 million, approaching 150 million by the end of the dynasty in 1644.[18][19]England's population reached an estimated 5.6 million in 1650, up from an estimated 2.6 million in 1500.[20] New crops that had come to Asia and Europe from the Americas via the Spanish colonizers in the 16th century contributed to the population growth.[21][22]Since being introduced by Portuguese traders in the 16th century,[23] maize and manioc have replaced traditional African crops as the continent's most important staple food crops.[24]Alfred W. Crosby speculated that increased production of maize, manioc, and other American crops "...enabled the slave traders [who] drew many, perhaps most, of their cargoes from the rain forest areas, precisely those areas where American crops enabled heavier settlement than before."[25]The population of the Americas in 1500 may have been between 50 and 100 million.[26]Encounters between European explorers and populations in the rest of the world often introduced local epidemics of extraordinary virulence. Archaeological evidence indicates that the death of around 90% of the Native American population of the New World was caused by Old World diseases such as smallpox, measles, and influenza.[27]Over the centuries, the Europeans had developed high degrees of immunity to these diseases, while the indigenous peoples had no such immunity.[28]After the effects of the plagues had subsided during the 17th century, shortly before the Industrial Revolution, the world population began to grow once again. In parts of Asia, like China, the population doubled from 60 to 150 million under the Ming dynasty[citation needed].After the start of the Industrial Revolution, during the 18th century, the rate of population growth began to increase. By the end of the century, the world's population was estimated at just under 1 billion.[29]At the turn of the 20th century, the world's population was roughly 1.6 billion.[29] By 1940, this figure had increased to 2.3 billion[citation needed].Dramatic growth beginning in 1950 (above 1.8% per year) coincided with greatly increased food production as a result of the industrialisation of agriculture brought about by the Green Revolution.[30] The rate of growth peaked in 1964, at about 2.2% per year. The world population was at some point in 2010 estimated to be 6,892,200,000, with unreported variability.[31]1900Africa - 133 millionAsia - 946 millionEurope - 408 millionLatin America & Caribbean - 74 millionNorth America - 82 million
