What is popsloader for PSP. I have CFW 3.90m33-3 but i dont know what a popsloader is and if I would need it?

Pops loader is Playstation One Portable Station that loads games intended originally for the Sony PSX console onto the PSP. Popsloader is described as an emulator. which allows the use of games designed for other consoles and/or platform such as PC, in this case the PSP console and PSX games.

The emulator makes use of the PlaystationPortable hardware and certain modules which allow for almost seamless play of almost all of the playstation one catalogue on the portable. This is possible because the portable uses software to render the games found originally on the PSX...

Popsloader alone isn't enough to load games. PRX files are needed from dumped firmware releases for the PSP. are also needed for the rendering the games. This is done with a utility called psardumper - or you can obtain the prx files from another source.

Finally the PSX games need converting from ISO to EBOOT. This can be done with PSX2PSP 1.2 (avoid version 1.3) and then you need to copy the EBOOT over to the X:/PSP/GAME on the memory stick

Upon the first execution of a PSX game, you will be presented with a list of pops versions you can use. These are the dumped files from the PSP firmware releases required for the seamless play of PSX games on the portable. There are so many versions because not all of them work for all games. It may be a case of trial and error to see which pops version works with a particular PSX game. 3.30 and 3.50 generally work best but this is not always the case. If you find the PSX game does not run correctly, hold down the right trigger button as you press X to select a different version. Otherwise it will simply load your previously selected version of pops and behave in the same undesireable way. The good news is. 99% of all PSX games will run on the PSP, with the correct POPS version running in tandem.

Please note: popsloader will only work on custom firmware.

So you need:

M33 custom firmware

POPSloader add on for the corresponding custom firmware version (eg. 3.80M33 and POPS 3.80)

PRX module files, decrypted and copied over to the 'seplugins' > pops folder for each version

A psx image

PSX2PSP v 1.2

A memory stick at least 1gb in size
