Priam's fate is ultimately tragic - he is killed by Achilles' son, Neoptolemus, during the fall of Troy. Priam meets a violent end as he pleads for the return of his son Hector's body, highlighting the brutal nature of war and the downfall of the once mighty city.

After his eldest son, Hector, was murdered by Achilles, Hermes accompanied Priam to the Greek camp to beg for his son's body. Achilles eventually relented and allowed a proper funeral for Hector and a temporary truce was reached. There was to be 11 days of peace in the Trojan war and fighting would restart on the 12th day. But Priam was in the temple of Zeus back at the Palace of Troy when he was brutally murdered by Achilles' son, Neoptolemus.
