According to the CIA fact book supported by the US Bureau of Statistics and Records, the main export of Jamaica is Bauxite. Sugar is the largest agricultural export.
By far the largest commercial export of Jamaica is Bauxite Ore, which is carried in large bulk containers to Canada, England and the United States where it is processed into aluminium. Jamaica also exports agricultural products, Bananas (mostly to England and Europe) Yams ( to the US and Canada) and Coffee (primarily to Japan, although Blue Mountain Coffee is prized throughout the world.) Jamaican Rum is exported and enjoyed throughout the world, with Appleton's and Meyers the primary marques. Red Stripe beer is also sold in the international market, although Red Stripe in the UK is actually brewed in the UK.
Although historically the principal export of Jamaica was sugar, in the post World War 2 era the largest export has been bauxite ore, which is shipped out to be refined into aluminium (aluminum in the USA) . If you drink a can of soda chances are the aluminium in the can came from Jamaica.
