Racial discrimination exists when one human race denies civil rights to another racial group in a nation. It can also be global in nature. For example, persons of East Asian descent, Japanese -Americans in particular were seen as internal threats to the US in WW 2. US President Roosevelt had all Japanese-Americans placed in "camps" for racial reasons.Ethnic discrimination is not racial discrimination.

Racial discrimination is when an individual or organisation discriminates or acts in predjudice against an individual or group based on his/her/their race. For example if a white person goes into a church that contains mostly black people and that white person is marginalised and not made to feel welcome, and deliberately excluded from activities because they are different (white) then that is racial discrimination.

Basically, because of the color of your skin or ethnicity, you are not treated the same as the majority.

Ethnicity is not race.

Racial discrimination is when one's apparent race is included as a major factor in a public decision - in employment, politics, taxes, criminal or civil trials, access to public facilities.

I work the front desk in a hotel owned by Indian people. All of the front desk employees are Indian except for me. The Indian people are given employee studio apartments to live in; however, I was told that the rent charge for me would be more than I can afford. They are not charging the Indian people any rent at all. Also, the Indian people are allowed to bring their laptops to work with them and use them when they are not busy. I am not allowed to use my laptop at work at all. I am not allowed to even read a newspaper at work. I am allowed to do my homework since I am going to college. The managers even told me that the others are allowed to use their laptops at work and they are allowed to do many other things that I am not allowed. These people have a different set of rules for the Indian people and a different set of rules for me. Also, I am made to do all of the cleaning in the office and lobby. I am given all of the duties of a supervisor, but not getting paid for it. Since I am the only person that can write a proper letter in English, I am made to respond to customer complaints and write the business letters that need to be mailed, with no extra pay. This is definitely discrimination in the workplace.
