But in computers, it may mean something quite different, and requires clarification.

In data base applications you generally have seperate tables containing information that relates to different categories i.e. Salesperson, Goods (will probable have more than one table for different areas of the store e.g. hardware and CD's) for sale, customers etc.
In these kind of relationships there is usually a one to many relationship that is that a customer will be the one relationship the many is the goods that they purchase. In the same way the salesperson will be the one and the customers and goods will be the many.
