To rethink your sinful actions.

Answer

No matter how dark and murderous their nature, no matter what they have done, God can change anyone's nature for good, and for that person to want to stay that way and not want to return to what they were like before. This complete change of nature is called Repentance.

It is God who leads someone to Repentance:-

Rom 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His kindness, and the forbearance and long-suffering, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

God wants everyone to Repent :-

Act 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

It doesn't matter what you have done. For example, are you a murderer or adulterer? King David had committed adultery with Bathsheba and then had her husband Urriah killed, but he was forgiven after he Repented [see Psalm 51:1-4].

Steps to Repentance:-

  • Confession of sin

  • Acknowledgement of guilt

  • Believe the Gospel.

PaulThe Gospel is not complicated. It is extraordinarily simple:-

1Cor 15: 1-5

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,

2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you --- unless you believed in vain.

3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

5 and that He was seen by [other people]

  • Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

  • 4 And that he was buried, and

  • that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

However,you can believe the Gospel but not obey it! Repentance requires Obedience:-

Romans 1

5 through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name's sake,

Romans 16

26 but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith;

Answer A

repentance is getting forgiven by God when you make it better (if possible) and ask for forgiveness from God and those who got hurt physically or emotionally.

Answer B

Muslims believe that repentance is to:

  • Admit the sin you committed,
  • intend not to commit the sin again,
  • request God to forgive you, and
  • to return the rights to others who are affected by the sin and asking for their forgiveness, if any.

In addition, it is advisable also to give charities, to your capacity, to the poor and needy people.
