What is serial photography?
I was thinking of answering "pictures of corn flakes" but researched this instead. The term is oft used to label images without explaining what it is, but I did find this:
Walter Evans is credited with inventing serial photography from his series of New York City subway photos. Each image in a series may capture something of the "decisive moment" (see Henri Cartier Bresson) but their overall meaning is divulged only when considered in relation to one another. Once the individual photographs are taken as a complete series, the decisive nature of each one vanishes into the whole. Here's an example called "Door Number Nine": http://www.catherinejamieson.com/
I suspect it is also used in medical and other sciences to denote a "series" of images taken to show the progression of something over time, such as healing, degeneration or growth.
