It's the region of the Earth at around 23.5*N.

Answer

The Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn are lines of latitude on the Earth's surface that correspond to the highest and lowest points in the Sun's annual migration north and south of the Equator as observed from the Earth. In reality, the Earth, not the Sun, tilts on its axis and causes this "observed" movement of the Sun from north to south and back, corresponding to the seasonal changes. The latitudes most often quoted for the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn are 23.5 degrees north and south, but actually, that latitude is varying over a 41,000 year period and changes minutely each year. The area between these two lines is referred to as "the tropics."

The Tropic of Cancer is an imaginary line around the earth made up of all the points that are 23.5 degrees north of the equator.

This is the northernmost extent of places where the sun can ever be directly overhead. Those are the places that can be directly under the sun at the moment of the summer solstice in June.

List the continents below the Tropic of Cancer?

Antarctica is the only continent completely in the southern hemisphere that doesn't touch the Tropic of Capricorn. Oceania is also completely in the southern hemisphere, but it does reach the Tropic of Capricorn, although parts of it are just in the southern hemisphere. Antarctica is the only continent that reaches the Antarctic Circle, and the South Pole is part of Antarctica, but yet Antarctica is so big that it even goes out of the Antarctic Circle which means Northern Sweden is closer to the North Pole than Northern Antarctica is the South Pole.

How did the tropic of cancer and tropic of Capricorn get their names?

Well it was named after tropics of the raneforist ?The tropic of Capricorn is the southernmost point where the sun will be directly overhead at noon on the winter's solstice. When named the sun was in the constalation of Capricorn during the solstice. That was 2000 years ago. Now the sun is in the constelation of Saggetarius during December. Should they change the name? Simillar with the tropic of Cancer, furthest north that the sun will be directly overhead at noon of the summer solstice. The equinox has progressed and it should be the Tropic of Taurus (eat that Henery Miller!)

What does tropic caner mean?

Nothing. The "Tropic of Cancer" is a circle of latitude, an imaginary line parallel to the Equator, about 23° 26' north of the equator. It is at this latitude that the Sun appears exactly overhead at the summer solstice.South of the equator there is the "Tropic of Capricorn"The 'Cancer' and 'Capricorn' in these names comes from the constellation in which the sun would appear to be at the Summer and winter solstices respectively (if you could see the Sun and the stars at the same time then).

How do you use tropic in a sentence?

The word 'tropic' is a noun, a word for one of the two imaginary lines around the Earth on either side of the equator. The Tropic of Cancer is 23°26' north of the equator and the Tropic of Capricorn is 23° 26' south of the equator. When referring to either of specific tropic, the word is a proper noun, which is capitalized. The plural form 'tropics' is a word for the hottest part of the Earth, between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn; the noun tropics is a common noun. The word tropic is also an adjective (an alternate for the adjective tropical), used to describe a noun as in or of the tropics, having a climate of or similar to the tropics.Example sentences: The northern part of Australia lies in the tropics. The Tropic of Capricorn runs through Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and Queensland.
