Super Bowl 2010 kickoff will probably occur a little after
6:30 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
- CBS, which is broadcasting the game, lists 2 different start times, 6:18 p.m. and 6:25 p.m., with a "kickoff show" from 6:00-6:25 pm, and a countdown that runs until 6:25.
- The Super Bowl 2010 hosting committee's website writes that the kickoff will be around 6:28, but they have a countdown clock counting down to 6:30.
- The NFL's Super Bowl site writes that kickoff will be at 6:25, but their countdown clock counts down to 6:00.
- Wikipedia lists 6:28 (with no citation).
In previous years, various sites listed various start times, usually down to the specific minute. For Super Bowl 42, FOX (which was broadcasting the game) announced kickoff for 6:17, the NFL said 6:18, and the site hosting the Super Bowl said 6:30. Actual kickoff was 6:32.
So if you'd like to catch the National Anthem some of the pre-game hype, turn on your TVs by 6. But don't expect the game to actually start before 6:30.
