The Air Force Band is one of the premier (or "special") bands of the armed forces, most of which are based in or around Washington, DC. It is comprised of six ensembles: the Air Force Strings, the Airmen of Note (a jazz big band), the Ceremonial Brass, a concert band, Max Impact (a rock band), and the Singing Sergeants (a mixed choral ensemble). It is a highly professional ensemble, with a challenging audition and high expectations. In addition to nationwide tours, the band also performs in the DC area, often with high-profile guest artists.
