According to Chilton's, the Specification for the Spark Plug Tube Nuts, Which bolts the valve cover on, is 33 lbs. The socket size is 30mm. However, I was told by a friend of mine who is a mechanic that he tightens them at 20 lbs.

Most Camrys do not have screws for the cover gasket. Fasteners are rather used. There are 4 of them (4 cylinder). You can find them on each spark plug tube.
you can see if its leaking if you have the spark plug in tight and then fill up the spark plug tube with gas and see if it leaks out if it doesn't its still leaking from the top one
Loosen and move the air intake tube for better access. Remove the three 13mm bolts of the spark plug coil rail. Cut the two zip ties of the spark plug coil rail. Remove the spark plugs with 5/8 spark plug socket. Check the gap on the spark plugs. Torque the new plugs in (22 ft/lbs). Spark plug tubes are threaded into head. Oil leaks by these threaded tubes at the head, which are under the cam (valve) cover. Remove threaded tube, reseal tube threads with thread compound (many good products on market, i.e., Permatex,et. al.) and re-thread the tube back into the head to proper ft. lbs. tightening. (29 ft. lbs. on 1990,1991, for example) There is a tool that will do this job without removing the Cam Cover, Assemacher Spark Plug Tube Remover (TOY150). For Hemi heads where the spark plugs are in the top of the head and there is a tube in the valve cover where the tube meets the head is the tube seal. It is basically an O ring.
