They felt that FDR wanted war and that he wanted Japanese-Americans in internment camps so that they would attack. They backed this up with the fact that the Americans moved their aircraft carriers out before the attack.

He said he believed that the attack had"awakened a sleeping giant"meaning America and her Industrial/Military might. In fact after a mere 6 months+- many scholars say the tide was already turned.In the Battle of Midway in June 1942 the Japanese Navy lost 4 aircraft carriers, and a large number of planes and trained pilots,a severe blow from which they never really recovered.
