It is due to the similarities in beliefs and the social oppurtunity to be with like minded individuals, that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints associate with the Boy Scouts. In 2000 there were approximately 400,000 young boys in the LDS scouting program, which accounted for about 12 % of the boys active in scouting. Only the Methodists had more boys enrolled.
