What is the Mormon religion really about and are they allowed to drink or marry or things of that nature?

[Edit]

Answer

Mormons (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) choose not to consume alcohol. Marriage is a key part of their religion, as is family. If you would like accurate information you may go to the official church website at mormon.org.

Answer

With all due respect to my learned friends, the question has not been answered I feel to the salisfaction of the asker.

The Mormon religion is all about saving souls. It testifies that Jesus is the Christ, and that only through Him can a man be saved.

It teaches one about prayer, study, fasting, service to ones fellow man. It teaches us about our first parents, Adam and Eve, of prophets that were upon the, now what we call the American continent. It teaches of Christs visit to them and leaving them with the Holy Priesthood. It teaches us what happens when one does not keep the commandments, that Satan is real and is doing all He can to destroy the work of the Lord.

It teaches the words of Christ "To bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man".

Mormonism is about you and me as taught through the holy prophets. That the gospel is once again upon the earth with all of the rights powers and priesthoods. It is Christs church, He is the founder, its head, the chief corner stone.

It teaches that man is forever, that this life is but one tiny part of mans existance and that he can go on to greater things.

Oh how I would like to go on and on telling you about the church, but let this suffice for now.

Answer

Although most members of the church feel that Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon church, "carefully observed the Word of Wisdom," research reveals just the opposite. In fact, Joseph Smith, the man who introduced the temple ceremony into the Mormon church, would not be able to go through the Temple if he were living today because of his frequent use of alcoholic beverages. The Word of Wisdom did not become law until after Joseph Smith's death.

Answer

The above information is not accurate. Joseph Smith was a man of honesty and integrity. He did in fact obey the Word of Wisdom, meaning did not use alcohol or any other harmful substance, and was a man of God. I know that to be true. For more information on Joseph Smith or the Mormon (LDS) religion, visit the official church website at mormon.org.

Answer

The Word of Wisdom was not binding on members of the church until long after Joseph Smith's death. While it may be true that Joseph Smith did not follow the Word of Wisdom, it didn't really matter. If he lived today, he would keep the Word of Wisdom.
