There was already a small chateau on the spot where the palace is now.

In the beginning in 1669, architect Louis Le Vau, landscape architect André Le Nôtre, and painter-decorator Charles Le Brun began a detailed renovation and expansion of the château. This was done to fulfill Louis XIV's desire to establish a new centre for the royal court. Following the Treaty of Nijmegen in 1678, he began to gradually move the court to Versailles. The court was officially established there on 6 May 1682. Louis XIV was the one to order the build of the Versailles palace.

The architecture design and construction of the palace of Versailles was immaculate. There were hundreds of plants, tons of fountains, and lots of statues. The palace took time, and several men to create the palace that it looks like to this day. There were professional landscapers, architects, and others who knew what the heck they were doing
