Strange meeting by Wilfred Owen- a poem analysis?

a "sentry" was somebody lwho was eft standing to guard a certain point.. within this poem Owen describes an attack, in which the sentry was badly injured.

he describes the scence "tablo" from personal experience, after witnessing a scene very similar to this in 1917... the sentry is first introduced to us within the 2nd stanza as "the sentrys body" implying that he was almost dead, extremely weak, and that within the war - everybodys identity disappeared, he was just "the sentry" .. nothing more.

this poem is known for being extremely vivid, with descriptions such as "shreiking air" (presenting the horrific sound - almost painful), and "bled and spewed", which presents the horrific scenes and perhaps the smell.

a few words to note on a significance level, include "frantic" which represents the terror and confusion of the attacks, and also "guttering rain" which suggests the weather is harsh and brutal, it doesnt just pour - it GUTTERS.

overall, this poem describes a horrific attack, and as predicted - Owen asks the point of the war and states "But ours has long died out" suggesting he has no hope in the war - the light of hope has long gone..

Its strange because they have so much in common and yet they fought on opposing sides and i think the killed each other I'm not sure cos i only read it this morning in school
