∙ 13y agoThe UK (United Kingdom) is a European Country. It is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who were all joined in acts of union. It's Capital is London but it does have many other major cities such as Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, Leeds and Newcastle. It's Head of state is the Queen and its government (the houses of Parliament) sit in London with regional Assemblies and governments for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland dealing with more local issues. It was in the first half of the 1900's responsible for an empire that spread across 1/3rd of the world but a series of major economic problems in the 40's, 60's and 70's seriously damaged it's world standing. However it is still a member of G20, the EU and NATO.
