According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the largest potato grown was 7 pounds 1 ounce by J. East (1953) and J. Busby (1982) of Great Britain. More recently, a Lebanese farmer has dug up what could be the world's largest (heaviest) potato. The 11.3 kg (24.9 pounds) potato was dug up by Khalil Semhat in his farm near Tyre, 85 kilometers (50 miles) south of Beirut, according to the news agency, AFP.
