What is the Yukon territory so special for?

The lucrative fur trade began in the Yukon Territory in1840, which attracted the Hudson Bay Company who sought to trade with hunters and trappers and also supply them. The big Klondike Goldrush started in 1896, attracting fortune-seekers who built the tent city that became Dawson, the capitol until 1951. By 1899 the Goldrush was over.
