If you are under the age of 1 year, you are a baby. To Be considered a child, your age usually ranges from ages 1 - around 11 or 12. But it all depends on how mature your peers and family treat you.

Yes, Child goes up to 18 years old, and in some cases for legal use / support issues it continues thru the completion of 12th grade in school. Being adult on or after graduation day from High School. However for some insurance / health care it can continue to refer to a person as your child during the 4 / 5 years of college. Thus you are able to keep them on your healthcare plan.

The common and legal definition of a child is anyone 0 to 18 years old. Personally, I call only those ages 0 to 12 children and people ages 13-19 teenagers or adolescents.
